I am exhaling a sigh of relief as I have finished making some very difficult decisions...
After changing my perspective on what classes mean to Jewelry Capable, I have decided to discontinue offering private lessons and reduce public classes to once a month.
At one time, classes meant ensuring that the next generation would be equipped to make accessible jewelry. I now view my remaining public classes as a way to raise awareness for the real Jewelry Capable cause in my community. This cause is serving an unmet need for accessible jewelry and accessibility conversion options so that everyone can feel beautiful.
When I really think about it, there are many jewelry related solutions for accessibility that have yet to be discovered and I don't even know what they all look like yet. The best thing I can do, is make space for these things to be developed and encourage the community to support it.
Thankfully, this change has given me more time to research and organize things that already meet some of the accessibility needs. Because of this, two new products will be added to the store this week that serve people with metal allergies. Many more products are yet to come for the 4 other categories of needs to be met.
